It is similar to a coffee cake in flavor and consistency. There are many different recipes that can be used from the starter. The starter is a substitute for yeast and can be used to make many kinds of yeast-based breads. We find this best when shared with friends and have included a basic starter recipe and delicious bread recipe with this listing. Amish Friendship Bread

Prep Time 10 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup oil
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 1-2 small boxes instant pudding any flavor
- 1 cup nuts chopped (optional)
- 1 cup raisins optional
Instructions

Preheat oven to 325° F (165° C).

In a large mixing bowl, add ingredients as listed.

Grease two large loaf pans.

Dust the greased pans with a 1/2 C sugar and 1/2 t sugar.

Pour the batter evenly into loaf or cake pans and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on the top.

Bake for one hour or until the bread loosens evenly from the sides and a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.

Recipe Notes
This recipe is very versatile! Use 1 or 2 boxes of pudding (pudding boosts flavor and moisture, but you can also leave it out or make your own). Add 1 cup of dried fruit, nuts or baking chips of your choice.
Looking to make your Amish Friendship Bread healthier? Swap out ½ cup of oil plus ½ cup of applesauce or 1 egg plus ¼ cup mashed banana. Reduce sugar to ⅔ cup or replace with ⅔ honey.

I live out in Amish Country so I had high expectations on this fragrance! They make the BEST fresh baked bread! The aroma that hits you as soon as you walk in the bakery (warm, sweet, yeast baking in the oven) Yep THIS IS IT! Just buy it! I promise you won't be disappointed!
I love the smell of Friendship Cake dough! I usually burn in the morning for that wonderful sourdough fragrance as if I'm actually baking!! Then I brew a pot of coffee AND. Wah-Lah, you have that unique, wonderful aroma of a bakery/donut shop! Ships fast, packed well, & superb customer service! Highly recommend!

Fantastic scent
My MIL is a bread fiend. She often tells me stories about sitting in her kitchen sharing a fresh loaf of bread and a pot of coffee with friends years ago. I had been wanting to make her a special candle but every FO I had tried, fell short of the actual sweet yeast smell, of fresh baked bread. I gave this one a shot, and I am so glad I did. When she openned the lid and smelled it, she actually teared up and headed straight to the kitchen for a lighter. If she loves it that much, you will too.

I have tried several other bread scented FOs from other brands, and they always fall short. This truly smells like a warm loaf of fresh baked bread, yeast and all. It has a slight sweet yeasty smell without smelling sugary sweet. Just pure baked bread. Love, love love ot.
